Google partnerships with HCMT in order to show how typography can reflect music, and how music is influenced by different causes.
Having the opportunity to celebrate Nina Simone’s music, through this initiative, her protest songs are brought to life through their lyrics and typography and investigate the language of media, especially newspaper as a way of misinformation and biased political stands and opinions.
These are supported by a thorough research into American media and newspapers and how they played a crucial role in perpetuating racism along time and are supported by the traumatic personal experience of a Black artist.
